Hi Doug, good article. I have been involved in mentor programs, though never looked at it from the metor culture before. Interesting concept which ties in to my belief system of engaging and empowering employees, what better way! As for strategic sucession planning, are you aligning mentors and proteges for this purpose as outlined by the strategic direction of the company in their 5 - 10 plan? That is where this gets very interesting, especially considering the talent shortages we are already experiencing, that are continuing to evolve more and more.

Comena.

We should get together to discuss this. Let me know when you would like to do so.

Question for you Doug, if I were interested in being mentored (or volunteering to mentor another woman) how would I go about that? What type of alignment is done to ensure compatibility etc.? This is something I would be very interested in from both perspectives.

HI Doug, good article and I completely see how things get that point, but see clearly how mentoring will bring those pieces back into the whole. Kolbe may be another option to align individuals with the appropriate roles - instinctively. What better way to mentor than to first identify the innate talent and then align those talents with the roles at hand. Just my thoughts!

Doug, this is super information for me in my new role in Recruiting. It is VERY true, and you know that I am a BIG supporter of mentoring - every where, every day, every one. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see your next blog topic.

Have you internally assessed your skills and talents to determine if they match what is being offered, or are you just looking for something to add to your resume or bring home a paycheck? How often do you really look at yourself to see if you are actually the right match for the job?

Great Post Doug.
